Cryptosporidium was found in the supply fed by the Hillhead reservoir. Around 17,000 households and businesses were put on a boil-water notice — in place for up to eight weeks for some — and 77 cases of cryptosporidiosis were confirmed.

Thames Water issued a do-not-drink notice to 616 properties after tests showed elevated hydrocarbons, traced to a historical fuel leak at the village petrol station. Benzene levels were too high to drink. The notice was lifted for most homes on 3 July.
